Worcestershire

We were  gifted a two-night stay at Rosebud Meadow Glamping in Welland, Worcestershire, and it was such a lovely escape. It was our first trip with our Labrador, so we were excited to see how he would handle the experience. The glamping pods at Rosebud Meadow turned out to be the perfect balance of outdoor adventure and modern comfort, and we had a wonderful time!

Nestled at the foot of the Malvern HillsRosebud Meadow offers a charming glamping experience that combines nature with comfort. The site features fully insulated, double-glazed camping pods that come equipped with everything you need for a cosy stay. Each pod has electricity, a mini-fridge, a kettle, and even a flat-screen TV with a DVD player — perfect for those rainy afternoons or when you just want to relax after a day of exploring.

The pods also have a covered porch, which was a lovely touch, offering a peaceful space to sit back and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee or an evening drink while soaking in the views.

We were impressed with the facilities at Rosebud Meadow. The toilet and shower blocks were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, and there was one private bathroom allocated per pod, so there was no waiting around. Each bathroom had a shower, toilet, and lockable door, providing a nice bit of privacy. The facilities are located a short walk from the pods through the car park and into the reception area.

There’s also a shared kitchen room near the pods, which could be useful if you want to cook or need access to additional kitchen amenities during your stay. However, we mostly enjoyed cooking outdoors on the BBQ provided at our pod.

One of the things that really won us over was the incredible view from our pod looking out towards the Malvern Hills. It was so peaceful and quiet, the kind of place where you can truly relax and disconnect. The site is spacious, and each pod has its own little outdoor area with picnic tables, perfect for enjoying the fresh air or eating outside.

For dog owners, there’s plenty of space for your pups to run around, although it’s worth mentioning there are farm animals on site. If you have a dog who’s reactive around livestock, this is something to keep in Rosebud Meadow is perfectly located for dog owners who love getting out and exploring. There are direct walking routes from the glamping site, including a lovely walk to Castlemorton Common, just a short distance away. It’s a wide-open space, ideal for dog walks, though we did spot some cattle grazing when we visited — another factor to consider if your dog isn’t too keen on livestock. However, the views here were spectacular, and the walks were so peaceful, it made for a perfect way to start or end the day

One of the standout features of Rosebud Meadow is their honesty shop. It’s a small but wonderful space where you can pick up homemade goodies like goat’s milk soapslip balms, and other handmade gifts. We absolutely loved browsing the selection and ended up picking up a few treats for family members. It’s these little touches that make the experience feel so special and unique

In addition to the hills, we also visited Eastnor Castle and Deer Park. The Deer Park includes an off-lead dog area, making it perfect for your furry friends to run around freely. The area is peaceful and beautiful, with lots of space for everyone to enjoy.

🏘️ Greater Malvern

We couldn’t resist popping into Greater Malvern, a picturesque town nestled at the foot of the Malvern Hills. Known for its natural beauty, this charming town is rich in history and is famous for its spa heritage. Visitors have been coming for centuries to enjoy the therapeutic waters, and the town is still a popular destination for both relaxation and exploration.

Greater Malvern offers a lovely mix of independent shops, cafes, and cultural events, making it the perfect place for a stroll. We also found it to be a great spot to grab any essentials or pick up food, so it’s worth a visit if you're in the area.

🏙️ Gloucester

On our way home, we made a stop in Gloucester, a historic city brimming with charm. Famous for its stunning Gloucester Cathedral and medieval architecture, it’s the perfect destination for culture lovers. The city sits at the confluence of the River Severn and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, adding to its scenic beauty.

We loved exploring the Gloucester Docks and checking out the local museums and shopping areas. It’s also a gateway to the Cotswolds, offering a rich blend of modern amenities and traditional charm.

Where Did We Eat?

After a day of exploring, we were always on the lookout for dog-friendly spots to grab a bite to eat. Here are some of our top picks:

🍽️ The Swan Inn, Hanley Swan

Just a short drive from Rosebud Meadow, we found a real gem in The Swan Inn in Hanley Swan. This lovely country pub has both a spacious garden and a covered outdoor area, making it perfect for dining al fresco with the dogs. The pub is dog-friendly and offers a delicious selection of dishes for both lunch and dinner. It’s on the pricier side, but we thought it was well worth it for the atmosphere and quality of food.

🍴 Mac and Jac’s, Greater Malvern

While exploring Greater Malvern, we stopped for lunch at Mac and Jac’s Cafe, a charming spot down a side road, offering a bit of peace away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Although it was busy inside, we opted for a seat outside with the dogs, where there were plenty of tables and chairs. The café serves a range of tasty breakfasts and lunches, and it was the perfect spot to relax and refuel after exploring the town.

🍹 Portivo Lounge, Gloucester

We couldn’t pass through Gloucester without stopping for a bite to eat at Portivo Lounge, located in Gloucester Quays. This dog-friendly spot is part of the ‘Lounges’ chain, which we’re big fans of back home. With a large menu offering everything from breakfast and brunch to tapas and desserts, there’s something for everyone. Plus, being dog-friendly made it an ideal choice for us. The café is within walking distance of some of Gloucester’s top attractions, including the famous Gloucester Cathedral, so it’s a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing.
